We are pleased to present 'Discs and Spheres,' a retrospective collection of the work of David Cantine. Cantine is known for his decades-long dedication to a single minimalist composition often featuring four circles, or discs, arranged in within a trapezoidal field. These highly recognizable compositions of colored circles have been his primary focus for 45 years of an impressive career spanning over six decades. What began as a still-life study of apples and shadows has evolved into his current abstract imagery featuring four circles and seven colors. Driven by the use of structural rather than descriptive color, Cantine continues to explore variations on this minimalist theme. Additionally, since the early 2000s, he has developed a more painterly form of abstracted still-life, drawing inspiration from the work of Giorgio Morandi.
