"In my upcoming exhibition, Beyond the Sky, I aim to transcend the mere motif and observation of nature, striving to capture a more sublime and spiritual essence of my perceptions. While sky and water appear frequently in these paintings, they do not constitute a formal series. Instead, each piece originates from the memory of a distinct moment when I encountered a landscape that deeply resonated with me. My intention is to employ color in a way that effectively communicates my emotional response to these experiences.
The title of this exhibition, "Beyond the Sky," was inspired by a lecture on my work delivered by Gerald McMaster, curator and scholar, to the Toronto Friends of the Visual Arts. " - GH, 2025
